Asad Shafiq says he is keen to fill void left by Misbah and Younis in team

LAHORE: Middle-demand batsman Asad Shafiq has said he and Azhar Ali are endeavoring to fill the spot left by past boss Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan with the steady work and unsurprising displays. 

"I yield that Azhar Ali and I haven't played that various colossal innings which Misbah and Younis used to play. In any case, we understand that after their retirement, we have to accept the risk and we are endeavoring to fill that opening," he said while tending to the media at Gaddafi Stadium. 


Responding to a request concerning an alternate captain for Tests, Shafiq said that the issue was to be picked by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) paying little heed to whether they have to change the boss or not. 

"Nobody acknowledges who will be the officer as this is up to the cricket board," Shafiq said. "At the present time Sarfaraz is our captain and he has our assistance."
